Diversity: Choi, Jae- young

Korean Westling, Acrylic on Canvas

Artist: Choi, Jae-young
Many of Choi Jaeyoung’s works examine society through the lens of a doll’s eyes; Choi sees the artificially constructed human expression as an aesthetic mechanism, within containing existential truth and the value of a removed perspective. The doll as a modern product describes both the glitter and soullessness of commercialism, and by this product Choi explores the relationships between individuals and society, humans and civilization.

See his work this Thursday at Eunam Museum of Art in Gwangju-si, Jeollanam-do, South Korea in Hye-Seong Lee’s international art exhibition “Diversity.”  Beginning on Thursday, 25 August and concludes on Thursday, 8 September.  An opening reception at 6pm will be held.  The reception provides an excellent opportunity to meet and to speak with Choi Jae-young.
