Diversity: Gilda Sénécal Wilson

Ewer, Oil on wood

Artist: Gilda Sénécal Wilson
Gilda Sénécal Wilson was born in Paris, France and completed a bachelor of Fine Arts at Curtin University and a Graduate Diploma in painting at the University of New South Wales, both in Australia. Her investigation into objects is driven by a concern for the loss of craft and the tradition of making. This is being particularly poignant at a time when there is an overabundance of mass produced commodities, replaced as soon as they are obsolete by newer objects. As a result, this engenders a disconnect between subject and object.

See her work this Thursday at Eunam Museum of Art in Gwangju-si, Jeollanam-do, South Korea in Hye-Seong Lee’s international art exhibition “Diversity.”  Beginning on Thursday, 25 August and concludes on Thursday, 8 September.  An opening reception at 6pm will be held.  The reception provides an excellent opportunity to meet and to speak with Gilda Sénécal Wilson.
